A two-mile evening glide along the shoreline that catches the last light all the way back to the dock.

The shoreline run from the Skyway down to Maximo Park is the bay's most reliable sunset paddle — protected from the west by the point, close enough to shore to bail if the wind turns, and lined with mangroves that glow copper for the last hour.

  • Distance: ~2 miles one way
  • Launch: Skyway pier lot or Maximo kayak launch
  • Time: launch 1 hour before sunset
  • Skill: intermediate — open but sheltered

Paddle south with the light at your back and the Skyway behind you. Turn around the moment the color peaks and you'll ride the last gold all the way to the dock. Carry a light for the carry-out — it gets dark faster than the ride back suggests.
